Christmas in the Caribbean

Our last Christmas celebration took place in Florida a couple days before New Year's, with Grandma "Me You" and Grandpa. It was supposed to be our BIG vacation of the year, and start off the new year with a bang...well, it didn't go down that way, thanks again to sickness. It started off good, even considering that Jeff had to take an early AM flight and I went with both girls later that afternoon; they did great on the plane. Jeff and my parents met us at the airport, then they took us to the hotel where "Santa" had been. Each girl had a new little quilt with lots of goodies from "Santa", Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Lisa + Uncle Andy. Thank you to our family for all of the nice gifts!! Ava was so excited, but also pretty tired after the flight and actually requested to go to bed. I should have known then...it was going downhill. To sum it up: Ava came down with a virus, and I had a severe case of sinusitis, which was diagnosed at the ER. Ava held up fairly well, just whiny + uncomfortable, but I was absolutely miserable most of the time. Not so sure Grandma + Grandpa will invite us back next year. My dad even came prepared with little bottles of hand sanitizer for each time he was in contact with my family...thanks Dad. Anyway to make matters even worse we were there when a cold front came through...down to the 40's, and in Florida!! Oh well, at least I didn't feel guilty laying in bed when it was too cold to be at the beach. We did have one partially nice day at the pool before it turned cold; but I think those pictures are on my parents' camera....will post later.

So not a good start for 2008, but I'm still optimistic (I must get that from Mom). I didn't take anymore pictures on the trip because it was just too sad. So good-bye Florida, we'll hope for better vacations in the future!

The last picture is the only one I took after the first day, and outside of the hotel. I think it was New Year's Eve; I felt the worst this day. Grandpa just bought us girls roses, which Ava is "cheering" Grandma with. Happy New Year!
