Happy Halloween!

Here is a sneak peek for tonight....if all goes well:

Yeah, I know, recycled costumes...bummer. But I just couldn't get it together to make new ones this year with all the sickness. The girls are back at MDO today; they even had a "bounce house" rented for the day...how cool! Then the plan is too trick-or-treat at Daddy's office, then a couple houses in the 'hood and finish up with passing out candy at home. Ava's pretty excited, but I'm REALLY excited!!

Lock Down, Part 2

We've been sick...again! Actually it feels like we never fully recovered from the first round. Ava has had a fever since LAST Saturday, and that feels like forever ago! They didn't go to MDO all week. The hardest thing was that nothing could be done, just a virus and it had to "run its course"; perhaps I jinxed myself with my own words on this. On Wednesday Daddy came home early because he finally caught it; even though we both felt miserable he was able to take some of the pressure off Mommy by holding a baby. Thursday, after more than 5 days of fever, I called the doctor; after a strep test they confirmed that yes, it's a virus and there's nothing to do but make them comfortable. That afternoon we called in reinforcements, aka Granny + Papa. They arrived yesterday afternoon with the products above...we're doing some heavy disinfecting this weekend.

The first part of the week was the most miserable; I was either having postpartum depression or just delusional due to fever. It was so hard, to make both babies comfortable at the same time and not lose my mind. I don't know how my mom did it, or any other mom with 2 little ones sick at the same time. Both girls wanted to be held by mommy 24/7 and cried hysterically when it wasn't their turn. I can't even begin to describe how sad and miserable we were, and I don't want to try, it would make me cry, again. Anyway, we are finally on the upswing, I think. Yesterday was the first morning Ava woke up happy and could sit alone, not on my lap, for breakfast.

Here are some pictures from the past week; we tried to play and get out a little, but mostly we watched "just a lil' bit of Dora, Mommy". She was just so miserable, I let her watch all the Dora she wanted...next week I'll be better at limiting the TV, but I'm not going to sweat it now.

Thanks Granny + Papa, you have really saved us!

Weeble Wobble

Look who's getting stronger, getting up on those hands and knees! We've been sick, again, all week, so this was pretty exciting around here. Usually I'd put Livi in something a little cuter for the camera, but what the heck...we're just not feeling up to getting dressed. Be warned - it's a little lengthy, perhaps only grandparents will watch the WHOLE thing, but you get the idea in the first few moments.

Ava does the Fair!

Last Thursday we adjusted our schedule a bit to go to the fair. Not just any fair, the Texas State Fair; home of Big Tex. I wanted to go the last time I lived in Texas, but never did. Finally with my two little ones, and the 2-year old being a bit of a thrill seeker, I had the perfect excuse. Boy, I sure am glad we took Granny + Papa though, for a couple of reasons: 1)The extra handling help with the girls was very much appreciated, and 2)It was pretty expensive! Thanks again, Granny + Papa, for treating us! We started the day early with the rides, in the form of Granny. What a sport! You can bet on Ava remembering this...anytime I sit anywhere near the sofa on the floor, she's suddenly behind me on the couch trying to climb on my back for a ride. Even Livi got to joy in on the "Granny ride":

Sorry for the blurry pic's, but my camera just couldn't quite keep up. If you know Ava, or have read the blog, you may know/see that she is not the super physical, outgoing type. So you may not be sure how she would react to the kiddie rides, especially alone...but here's the shock, she LOVES them! Especially the fast ones! Just look at these:

Little Livi will have her day too, one day. But this day she was quite content to kick up her feet on the stroller and take in the scenery. I even took Ava on the log ride, a family favorite of mine growing up. I started to regret my decision as we were splashed with water even before we climbed up the steep hill and Ava cried. But as soon as that little log let go down the hill, wwwwwaaaaa-hhhoooooo! Ava threw her little arms up in delight and screamed. She couldn't hardly slow down once we got off the ride to tell Granny + Papa what fun it was. The big slide, the one you ride down in burlap sacks, was not quite as fun for Ava...bummer. She didn't cry or anything, just told me she didn't like it once we came down. She was hesitant about the cotton candy....at first. It quickly became a favorite, a close tie with the roasted corn.Ava is "cheesing" for the camera, with Mommy.Waiting for our turn on the Ferris wheel, the Texas Star: Whew! It was windy way up there, but fun to see the city. Papa went with us, while Granny stayed with Livi; we waved at them, lots!

We hope to take Daddy too next year, I know he would have really enjoyed Ava's reaction to the rides. I also didn't get to eat enough fair food - chocolate strawberries, fried marshmallows, fried latte, fried guacamole, fried....you get the idea. See you next year, Big Tex!

Happy Birthday Sunnie!

Happy 19th Birthday, Sunnie!! Hope you had an awesome celebration. We had so much fun at your first horse show in college!! Doesn't she look cute (above)!! My younger sis, Lisa, planned her trip to visit the girls & me around this horse show, since it would be close to us in Gainsville, TX. So we packed a lot in that weekend, but it was well worth it. We don't get to see our big sis (actually she's pretty small), Teresa, and her family very often, but when we do we always have the best time & get along like no time at all has gone by.

Sunnie was SO nervous, but I don't know why because she did great. She even got a first place, and on her first show!...Awesome! I'm not much of a horse person, too allergic, but Lisa is ALL horse. Apparently Aunt Teresa, Uncle Ken, Brock (little brother) & Brock (Sunnie's boyfriend) aren't either...we were the only ones not wearing jeans, boots and belts. Ava, on the other hand, was dressed for the occasion. Coincidence? Are you kidding, I know what I'm doing....it was the first event that cried, "wear your new pink boots". And if you compliment her on them, and make the mistake of calling them cowboy boots you will quickly be corrected. They are cowgirl boots. This is only the second time she has even got to be with her Aunt Teresa & Uncle Kenny, but she quickly became attached; and of course, they are such a fun & loving family. They move at a fast pace, like a whirlwind, but they just scoop you up and take you with them. I love you guys!

Go Jaguars, Roooaarr!

Last Friday night was a big deal for Ava. She was introduced at the Flower Mound High School football game by my cousin, Lyndsee, who is on the drill team, the "Rosettes". They played at Texas Stadium too, very cool! We've been building this up for Ava for quite some time; to go to a football game to see Lyndsee dance. She has been SO excited, and talked about the big day a lot!! Unfortunately, it came during the time we have been battling sicknesses in our family, but we didn't let that stop the fun! Ava was such a trooper; I know she didn't feel 100%, but you might have never known that night. To add to the experience I spent the previous week making outfits for Ava & Livi. To be honest my steam was running out by the time I finished Ava's, Livi's was not all that I had hoped it could be, but I think she still looked cute & I'm glad I did at least a little something for her. Another bonus was that a lot of our family came to this game, including my younger sister Lisa that flew in for the weekend from Indiana. Lisa was a huge help in getting the girls ready and getting to the game in one piece; thanks, Lis! The game didn't even start until 7:30 pm, practically Ava's bedtime; but every now and then exceptions need to be made, and this was the time. Ava was so good, she loves our extended family and embraced them all...especially my cousin Steven:

Livi takes it all in:Ava & Aunt Lisa:
Mommy, Aunt Lisa & Livi:
More family - Ava with Trish, Ronnie & Rena to the left; nice, Ronnie:Ava enjoys some popcorn: And she cheers for the Jaguars with Great-Aunt Lynne Dee:
At the third quarter (well past bed time) Lyndsee introduces Ava to the rest of the drill team...our big moment! Poor little Ava was pretty tired at this point, but still got excited to be so close to Lyndsee and all of the girls:Bari Lynne, my cousin & Lyndsee's mom, carries Ava back to our seats. They made her a cute little Rosette bear to remember the event...Ava refers to the bear as "Steven's bear" for the next week, until Mommy finally gets through to her that Lyndsee gave her the bear...sorry Lynds! But thank you SO much!!! What an honor! Aunt Lynne Dee walks us to the car where we get the girls in their jammies for the ride home. At 10:30 pm we are finally home, greeted by Daddy and go straight to bed. The next morning we are off to Gainsville, Texas to see our niece in her first collegiate horse show. More to come....
