Very Well Baby!

Livi's 2-month well baby appointment was today:
Height: 22 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 38 1/2 cm (50th)
Weight: 12 lbs. 4 oz. (90th!!!)
Everything looks good, especially the eating! She has some lingering baby acne/heat rash. She has a couple of birthmarks, or capillary hemangioma; one on her back (nickel-size) and one on her scalp. They should start to go away by 2 - 3 yrs. old. And her belly button healed nicely.
But the doctor wants me to keep trying to get her to sleep on her back. No surprise here, but it's going to take some work. Livi doesn't like sleeping on her back....AT ALL!

El-fa-lents!...At the Zoo

Last weekend my parents, my sister, my grandmother, myself and the girls drove to Oklahoma to see my niece graduate from high school. What an experience! More pictures of that to come later. Jeff met us there for the weekend and our little family went to the OKC zoo. Nothing like Dallas or what I hear about Ft. Worth's zoo, but it was fun!

Daddy and Ava pose by the dolphins...Ava loved the sea lions, also called dolphins.
I love this picture, especially her little hand wrapped around Daddy's finger:

A Curious Little Person, Livi

Being a mom for the second time does not make me feel like a pro, however I have had more confidence; and then this little person goes and does her own thing....totally different from her big sissy, Ava. For instance, Livi does NOT like the pacifier, an Ava staple from the beginning. Goes some days without crying at all, again not what I'm used to. And then there's the sleeping, the length is about the same as Ava, but she prefers to lay on her stomach. This last one makes me a nervous wreck, I've settled down a bit now, but I do LOTS of checking to make sure her little nose is clear and she's breathing. She also spits up a whole lot more than Ava ever did, so I feel somewhat convinced that the tummy sleeping really is best for her; after all, my sister and I slept that way and we survived. Some recent pics:

I broke down and bought Livi her very own bathtub since I can't find my inflatable one. I like it, very infant friendly.
We bathed Ava in the sink at about the same age. I love finding pictures of them at the same age, I'll have to post more.
Ava also likes Livi's bathtub, however she prefers to use it as a lounge chair for some morning cartoons.

A Stroller Built for Two

Here is the double stroller I chose for the girls (thanks Grandma + Grandpa!), and I'm pretty pleased so far. I really decided I liked the side-by-side kind probably because of my own childhood....I remember having to sit in the back of our old double stroller because my little sister would pull my hair if I sat in front. Ha! Of course strollers are a lot nicer these days, but I thought it would be cute for the girls to ride next to each other and both get a good view, not that Livi cares quite yet. Ava seems to love it though. It's also nice because it is lightweight and folds up with strap for carrying, see video. This is the only picture I could get of us so far; usually I have to start out carrying Livi in the baby carrier and then transfer her to the stroller. It seems she prefers to be held 99% of the time...I don't mind, but it can get a little hot while going for walks.

PB + Mommy

Yesterday's conversation at lunchtime...

Mommy: "Ava, would you like a peanut butter + jelly sandwich or a peanut butter + honey sandwich?"
Ava: "Peanut butter + Mommy!" (she smiles)

Be Patient, Mom

Thanks Granny + Papa, Ava and Livi just received some goodies from you! Ava got an Elmo purse with a bunch of little accessories; here she is putting on the lipstick. She calls it "lips" and then goes around to everyone demanding to put some on you.
The other really funny thing she did was walk around with the comb wanting to fix Grandma's, Aunt Lisa's and Mommy's hair. When she came over to Mommy she says, "comb hair, Mommy". Once she reaches me and I let her comb my hair she says, "be patient, Mom" and then, "no crying". Hilarious.

Rabbit Food

Ava's new favorite breakfast...cereal, just like Mommy's. But Mommy likes Grape Nuts, not necessarily what I thought Ava would like, or any other toddler, but she insists. So after spoon feeding her my cereal for a few days I finally gave in and just poured her her own bowl; as long as she is eating, great! Although I thought I heard her call it rabbit food the other morning, and then cat food this morning; maybe that's why she likes it, if it's animal food.

Messing Around

Ava rediscovers her tool belt...although we can't find any of the tools, oh well she didn't seem bothered.

Livi hanging out on Grandma's shoulder. It looks as though she is seriously pondering something, like, "hmmm, what should I do today?"

Birthday Goodies...All Around!

Thanks Mom + Dad (Granny + Papa) for the birthday goodies that arrived today! I couldn't wait until tomorrow to open them, and I knew Jeff wouldn't make me wait either! LOVE the flip-flops!! Ava loves her "helper gift"; she's VERY excited to try out the bath crayons tonight!! And here's a picture of Livi too, just because.

Daddy's Girl

Jeff, you would be so proud! While Ava was helping Grandma plant some flowers they found a worm, Grandma pointed it out & Ava picked it right up! Definitely not like her mother; I tried to hide my grossed out look for her sake.
