Toddler Talk

Historically Ava has been right on the mark for milestones babies/kids hit such as cooing, smiling, motor skills (minus crawling), talking, etc....but something tells me the talking has far surpassed what is considered normal for this age. She was using more words at a young age at our first playgroup, yet oddly enough, she was not as physical as the other babies. Well I guess what she did lack in physical skills she has made up for mentally. I guess it's the use of whole sentences that really have me floored. We are still in the fog after the storm of sickness around here, so no pictures right yet, but here are some funny conversations between Ava + myself, and Ava + Ava:

(While walking up our driveway one evening, hand-in-hand) Ava: "Mommy, this driveway is really steep." ...What??? where did she learn "steep"?

(While playing in the front yard) Ava: "Come here, Mommy; vamonos!"

(At the playground) Mommy: "Ava, do you want me to help you get on the frog?" Ava: "Actually Mom it's a turtle." Did she just say Actually??

(Getting run over at the playground by a hyper little guy) Ava: "Hey boy, that's NOT nice!! That's NOT nice!!!"

(In the bathtub, while both hands holding onto one toy) Ava: No, it's mine!! Mine! You have to take turns, 'member. Yeah, I 'member. We have to share." (then little hands take turns playing with bath toy).

(During book time before bed) Ava: "We have to read Dora. The Spanish word guide."

(Spotting little sis touch something, anything, of hers) Ava: "No, NO Livi! You can't have that!" Mommy: "Ava, stop that; you need to share with your little sister." Ava: "Here Livi (giving her another toy) you can play with this."

So hilarious! Since we are recovering from our illnesses Ava and Livi have been such little pleasures! There are so many more funny things Ava says, but I usually forget them by the time I get to the computer. And Livi, she's practically crawling!! Will try to get video; she gets up on hands + knees, no problem, then rocks, during the forward rock she face-plants which puts her a little ahead of where she started...and then does it all again. I call it the "inchworm". That's all for now; going to enjoy a bit more of "double nap time" while I can!!

Ava is so smart - I hope you and Jeff are up to the challenge! She will certainly keep you on your toes! Can't wait to see her and have a conversation with her. That's so funny about her talking to herself in the bathtub with her two hands! She is a little sponge and is learning so much.
